DESIGN
(A) Codes
1.
Frame members (hot rolled or built-up) are designed in accordance with the 1989 (9th) edition of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC): "Manual of Steel Construction, Allowable Stress Design."
2.
Cold-formed members are designed in accordance with the 1996 edition of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI):"Cold-formed Steel Design Manual."
3.
All welding is done in accordance with the 2000 edition of the American Welding Society (AWS): "Structural Welding Code - Steel." All welders are qualified for the type of welds performed.
4.
Manufacturing dimensional tolerances are in accordance with the requirements of the 1996 edition of the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) of the USA: "Low Rise Building Systems Manual"
5.
Other codes can be accommodated if specified.
 
(B) Loads-
 
1.
The building is designed to withstand the dead load (DL) of the structure plus a specified live load (LL) and wind load (WL).
2.
Vardhman Steel standard design is based on 0.75 kN/m2 liveload and a 30-50 m/s wind speed.
3.
Collateral loads, if any, must be specified by the customer at the time of request for quotation.
4.
Where snow load is specified, the higher value of either the snow load (in lieu of live load) or the live load will be used in load combinations to produce the maximum adverse effect on the structure. Snow load and live load are not additive in load combinations.
5.
Load combinations are in accordance with the requirements of the 1996 "Low Rise Building Systems Manual" published by MBMA.

Other loads and load combinations can be accommodated and must be specified at the time of request for quotation.
